Most Google Searched Blog Types

Rachel Scholz

Have you considered writing a blog, but wonder if it’s worth the hassle?
Blogs are great for creating business, selling items, and making money off ads. Some blogs that initially had one author that have grown into a larger collection of multiple authors now boast making thousands, and even millions per month (Forbes).

You may have several topics you are passionate about and are hoping to blog about them, but, depending on your desired outcome of your blog, you may want to choose a popular topic.
I used Google Trends to gather how many Google searches were done for each blog type.

My Findings
I was surprised to find DIY at the bottom of the list, scoring an average 2531 Google searches per month. But even with a site like Pinterest, it may be a bit more difficult for DIYers to get their information out there.

It is no surprise that technology was at the top of the list. In fact, Forbes named four out of the top ten money making blogs as technology blogs, one of them even making 1 million per month.
Even with their busy schedules, teachers are finding time to blog. There was an average of 5665 searches per month. Teachers are relying on each other for resources, strategies, and curriculum.
And if you don’t know how to hardwire a computer or aren’t licensed to teach, fashion and film blogs are popular as ever, each one receiving at least 4000 searches per month.

Whatever topic you choose, try to find one that is relevant and do your research. I searched my website’s name, Emendable, and I was able to see how many searches I got per day for the last month. Check out Google Trends to search for your blog topic before starting a blog.

Conclusion
While 6000+ users are searching for fashion blogs or 4000+ users are searching for technology blogs per month, once you decide to jump into the blogging world, you won’t be able to rely completely on random customers that find you through a Google search. Searching Criteria
·       When searching, I used the key terms you in the Type of Blog column.
·       I searched for both blog and blogs for each blog type. For example, for Fashion/Style, I searched for Fashion Blog, Fashion Blogs, Style Blog, and Style Blogs.
·       My search was for the entire month of March and September, each having thirty days, and they are six months apart.
